Transportation is responsible for 32 percent of carbon pollution in Delaware. Governor Carney recently joined other states to design a regional approach to cap transportation emissions, and has committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the state by a minimum of 26 percent (from 2005 levels) by 2025. Delaware has incentivized the transition to electric vehicles through rebates, established a network of vehicle charging stations, increased the number of electric vehicles in the State's fleet, and has adopted a low emission vehicle (LEV) program patterned after California. But the state will need to adopt more ambitious policies, such as the zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate, in order to meet the state’s climate goals.
